• Why I left Exeter Fm

My days of getting up at 4.30am to be at Exeter Fm are over. I just need my body clock to adjust.

I wish the team there the very best of luck. I'm sure they will do well, especially with Paul Nero and Mark Tyler at the helm, but it was time for me to move on.

It wasn't an easy decision to make. Being on the radio every morning in an area that you love can be a very comforting thing. It is a great job.

Each day I would sit there talking to my friends, playing some top songs and passing on the daily news. Have you ever put off something till tomorrow because you are too comfortable? That's what had happened to me.

I have been sitting on, what I think, is a great idea for a number of few years now. Something outside of Exeter Fm. Last month the new owners stepped in to take over the station. They too are full of great ideas for the future of the radio station. Their plans included me. It would have meant them investing time and money on me. I had, though, become more excited about my own venture. I didn't want to let the new guys down and I felt it was unfair not to tell them of my own visions, so... I stood down.

At 09.56 Thursday, I played out with my favourite song 'Bring Me Sunshine' by Morecombe and Wise.

What am I up too? Well, I do have a very exciting project in the pipe line and it is going to take my undivided attention. I won't say what it is for two reasons. One, I'm superstitious about counting my chickens.. and two someone might nick it! ...

But it will happen and when it does.. you'll know. To all those nice people who posted nice messages.. thank you for them and thank you for tuning in.

Keep listening in to Exeter Fm .. good things are on the horizon :)
